WILLIAM EDSON SNOW, Ph.D., 69, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. Devoted husband for 44 years to Irene (nee Zalneratis), beloved father of Cmdr. Patrick U.S.N. (Hannah), Michael (Stacie), Laura (fiancé Justin Robinson) and Cpt. Sarah U.S.A., loving grandfather of Reagan Rose, son of the late Col. Edson and Edith (nee Quinlan), fond brother of Wendy Love (Charles), cherished uncle of Andrew (Jessica) and David (Esther) Love, great-uncle of Arzelia Jane.
He spent his career as a management consultant, career counselor and executive coach. Contributions in memory of Bill suggested to Friends of Heights Libraries, 2345 Lee Rd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118.
Born and raised in Brighton, New York, Bill came to Cleveland for graduate school at Case Western Reserve University, and became a lifelong resident of Cleveland Heights.
Bill belonged to many organizations, including the Sports Car Club of America, Academy of Model Aeronautics, Charter Member of the Buckeye Soaring Society (model gliders), North Coast Soaring Association, American Airlines Gas Model Club, AMLA, Martha Washington Lodge and American Psychological Association.
Bill attended Brighton High School (Brighton, NY) and received a BS degree from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) and a Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH).
As a young man, Bill enjoyed Sports Car Rallying, Tennis, and Sailing. He loved seeing movies (even the bad ones) at the Cedar Lee Theatre. More recently, Bill took up bird watching. Bill was always aware of the wind conditions looking for the right time to get down to Edgewater and launch his model airplanes or gliders with his buddies. He was a lifelong avid reader – regularly taking home stacks of books from the library. He was a passionate fan of all Cleveland sports teams – always hoping this would be the year.
Bill was a great father who was always there for his children through their scholastic, athletic, career and life achievements. He was thrilled when he recently became a grandfather.
We will miss his infectious optimism. For Bill, the glass was always more than half full. Everyone knew Bill was excited when you saw him quickly rubbing his hands together.
Funeral services Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial following in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Bill at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
