William Grunenberg

WILLIAM GRUNENBERG age 80, beloved husband for 49 years of Janet (nee Handley); loving father of James (wife Sherry), Frank, Heidi, and Paul (wife Nikki); devoted grandfather of Kathleen, Brian, Michael and Reese; cherished son of the late Franz and  Barbara (Arendt) (nee Molnar); dearest brother-in-law of Jennifer Janda, Russell Handley and Tracy Bassett; dear uncle and great-uncle of many; treasured friend of Sharon Scott and many others.

William was born July 5, 1940 and died peacefully February 25, 2021 surrounded by his family. He came from Yugoslovia in 1952, moving to Canada before settling in the Cleveland area. He lived in Willoughby for forty-nine years, previously Euclid.

William attended and graduated from Collinwood High School in 1959. He went on to work as an electrician at Lincoln Electric for the past 42 years. William enjoyed gardening, flowers, photography, and CB radio. He was known for sending a card for every occasion. He was a fan of polka music and the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

William is remembered as thoughtful, generous social and witty. He was a decisive and strong-willed man who will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of William to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Graveside service will take place at a later date at Whitehaven Memorial Park.
