WILLIAM F. DELLY age 96 was the beloved husband of the late Lois W. (nee Hubschman). Loving father of the late William A. and devoted grandfather of Allen Delly and Karen Hadden (husband George). Cherished son of the late Matthew and Mary (nee Glavic). Dear brother of the late Mary Sintic, Frances Zakrajsek, Caroline Smith, Anne Shirilla, John, Joseph, Vincent, Louis, Frank, and Nicholas.
William was the left wing for the Cleveland American Legion hockey team that defeated the University of Minnesota for the 1939 A.A.U. Championship. He also played for the Huntington Stars semi-pro hockey team. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, Elks, and the Euclid Jaycees. He was a sports enthusiast and his hobbies included golfing, fishing, and boating. He also was an avid traveler.
He was the Owner/Operator of American Typewriter Company. He also worked for Coit Road Fisher Body Plant, GE Marquette Metal and International Harvester.
Family suggests contributions may be made in William’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185 Street, Cleveland, OH 44119.
A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 2 PM at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Heights, OH (Please meet at the gates of the cemetery).
