WILLIAM H. BURKE age 91, beloved husband of the late Bernadette (nee Prescott); loving father of John, Anne Hayes (husband Marty), Kevin, Maura Sweet (husband Michael), and Neil (wife Susan); devoted grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 6 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson (deceased); cherished son of the late Thomas and Susan (nee Rhodes); dearest brother of Jane Burk, and preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. WWII U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient.
Bill was an 18 year Euclid resident previously of Cleveland Heights. He was a long time parishioner of St. Peregrine of Westlake formerly of St. Stephens Byzantine Church in Euclid. Bill was a member of the Holy name society. He was a Marine Corp Veteran, and a Purple Heart recipient. Bill was born and went to High School in Pennsylvania, and earned his under graduate degree at St. Bonaventure, and earned his masters at Cleveland State University. Bill was a quality control manager for Avery Dennison. His hobbies included gardening, traveling, and he was very handy. Bill enjoyed listening to classical music. He could best be described as humble, hardworking, private, family oriented, Faithful, devout Catholic. Bill was selfless, giving, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Peregrine Catholic Church 22953 Detroit Ave. Westlake, OH 44145. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery.
