Wilbur F. Connel

WILBUR F. “BILL” CONNEL age 85, beloved husband for 51 years of the late Linda (nee Worstall); loving father of Vicki Dziura (Jim), Cheri Shade (Bruce), Allan Connel, and Gregory Connel (Melissa); devoted grandfather of Jennifer Dziura (Andrew), Brian Dziura, Katherine Tousignant (Michael), Christopher Shade (Bonny), Nicole Myers (Evan), Erin Connel and Sarah Connel and great-grandfather of Vivian Sternick, Phoebe Dziura, Kiley Myers, Aiden Myers, Olivia Tousignant, Lucille Shade, and Quinn Shade; cherished son of the late William and Grace (nee Osborne); loving brother-in-law of Lorna.

Wilbur was born in Duncan Falls on December 27, 1935, and passed away peacefully on December 6, 2021. He lived in the same home in Lyndhurst for over 55 years.

Wilbur graduated from Fenn College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and became a manufacturing manager for most of his life.  He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and a proud season ticket holder since the 1960s.

Wilbur was a self-taught man in all aspects of his life, from his home’s craftsmanship to learning how to make sound investments. He converted the upstairs of his house into a two-bedroom suite on his own, impressing the inspectors who remarked, “he did better work than a professional electrician.”

Wilbur had a wonderful sense of humor that endeared even his nurses.

Wilbur’s greatest joy in life came from his family. He and his wife Linda were married for 51 years and raised four children. During the children’s years growing up, he took them on extended trips across the county. He gave his children the experience of seeing all the great national parks.

He loved spending time and talking with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in his later years. Each time they would leave, he would remind them to “go out into the world and make good decisions that day.” All will dearly miss him.

Celebration of Life Service Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Wilbur at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY DECEMBER 20 from 3-5 & 6-8 PM.
