Walter K. Czaja, age 89, died Sunday May 15, 2016 in the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio following a brief illness.
He leaves his sons and their families, Mark and Kathy Czaja, their children Kelly and Colleen; Michael Czaja and Hope Clark, their children Amanda, Michael, Samuel and Lukas; Robert and Kelly Czaja and their children Allyson, Sarah and Rhiannon.
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY Walter attended Trott Vocational High School. He served in the United State Marine Corp during World War II. Thereafter, Walter attended the University of Notre Dame and St. Bonaventure on football scholarships. He received his Master’s Degree in Education from Niagara University. Walter worked at Niagara Wheatfield High School for over 30 years as a teacher and guidance counselor. He retired from counseling at 64. He had a passion for learning and loved his students. Walter moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio IN 2009 to be with his son Michael and his family.
An avid golfer, he had long time memberships at the Niagara Frontier Country Club and Niagara Falls Country Club.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, NY on Saturday, June 4, from 2 to 5 pm. A Prayer Service followed by Military Honors will take place in the funeral home at 5:00 pm.
