Vivian Goetz

VIVIAN I. GOETZ (nee Koncler) age 88, beloved wife for 49 years of the late Joseph; loving mother of Karen, Loraine, Joseph (Stephanie), and Jeffrey (Diana); devoted grandmother of Jodi, Nikki (Jimmy), Staci, Bobbi, Ashli, Tara, Fallon (Travis), Lauren, Connor, Olivia, and Sophia; great-grandmother of many, cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Koncler (nee Toth).

Vivian was born in Cleveland on September 6, 1929 and passed away on December 22, 2017. She graduated from John Hay High School and attended Cleveland College. Vivian was a homemaker, a member of the Hungarian Club, and a parishioner of St. Mary in Chardon, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and school volunteer. Vivian loved to crochet and sew. She also enjoyed cooking her famous cabbage & noodles and baking birthday cookies with her family. She was an avid reader and library patron.

During World War II, Vivian’s family began giving a special medallion coin to each family member that served this country. This coin has been given all over the world, and Vivian was the latest keeper of this tradition. Vivian had a strong love for her family and friends, and of God and her church. Her greatest joys came from spending holidays with her family, cuddling with her grandkids and watching The Price is Right. She was caring, giving, nurturing, strong, and beautiful inside and out. Vivian was sincere and generous to all, and she will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Vivian to St. Mary School in Chardon.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 315 North St., Chardon at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements by THE DeJOHN Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square).
