Violet A. Retino

VIOLET A. RETINO (nee Vaccariello) age 94, beloved wife for 70 years of Michael; loving mother of Michael (deceased) (wife Caroline) and John (wife Angela); devoted grandmother of Elizabeth; cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (nee Manieri) Vaccariello; dearest sister of the late Sue Zingale (husband Thomas deceased), Clem Manzo (wife Catherine), Angela Ardire, Ruby Vaccariello (wife Antoinette, deceased), and Eleanor Sucky; dear aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Violet died peacefully at Hospice of the Western Reserve on July 30, 2022.
She was a resident of Mayfield Heights for the past 63 years. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and participated in both the Parish’s Prayer and Healing groups. She had a strong faith in praying to St. Ann and would always have a St. Ann medal in her purse and would give you one.

Violet graduated from Collinwood High School in 1945 and dedicated her life to caring for her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting, especially decoupage and crocheting afghan blankets. She was a great cook and baker. She enjoyed collecting and making family and friends’ recipes. Her favorite singer was Tom Jones.  She found joy in babysitting for friends and family.

Violet had a warm sense of humor and was social, friendly and loveable.  Her legacy will be the love and kindness she showed daily to all types of people who crossed her path. She was devoted to her faith and family and loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. In her later years, her husband Mike dedicated himself to being Violet’s caregiver, a testament to the love they had for one another.
