Vid Slemc

VID SLEMC age 83, beloved husband for 54 years of Emily (nee Anzic); loving father of Alex (wife Tricia, nee Hanna); devoted ‘ata’ of A.J., Ella and Owen; dear son of the late Franc and Angela (nee Jenko); dearest brother of the late Francelj, Angela Hribar (husband Louis deceased), Millie Odar (husband Miro deceased) and Felix (wife Hilda); cherished brother-in-law of Ann Zakelj (husband John) and the late Godfrey Anzic; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Army Veteran.

Vid was born on May 21, 1934 in Zgornji Brnik, Slovenia and passed away on February 18, 2018 at his home in Willoughby Hills. He was a 50-year resident of Willoughby Hills previously of Cleveland. Vid was a parishioner of St. Vitus Catholic Church and St. John of the Cross. He was a former board member of Slovenska Pristava, a member of Pensioners’ Club of Slovenska Pristava and one of the first members of the Korotan singing group. Vid earned his Associates degree from Tri-C and worked in Industrial Quality Control. He enjoyed Bocce, traveling, watching the stock market, gambling, skiing, swimming, bird watching and was a baseball fan, especially the Cleveland Indians. Vid received the most enjoyment in life from his family, friends and traveling. His favorite traditions were holidays, family events and Pristava. Vid could best be described as quiet, sweet, gentle, thoughtful, adventurous and truly a gentle man. He was liked by all and will be truly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Vitus Catholic Church, 6019 Lausche Ave., Cleveland, 44103. Private Burial at a later date in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Vid at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 2-4 and 5-8 PM.
