Tom passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his devoted family on June 15th, 2024. He was born June 25, 1935 in Cleveland to Mary Ethel Freda (Hindghaugh) and Thomas Peter Talty. He was a proud graduate of Benedictine High School and John Carroll University, Class of 1958. He grew up in Euclid on the lake. In later years with many fond memories, he returned to the shores of Lake Erie watching boat races and beautiful sunsets. Tom began his career in chemical sales, and soon realized he wanted to start his own business. The Precious Metal Plating Company was born in 1965 and grew to become a leading electroplating company in the Northeast Ohio area. Tom was inducted as the Citizen of the Year in 2010 from the Wickliffe Chamber of Commerce, which he was a trustee and a proud business owner for 55 years. He enjoyed golf and tennis with his close group of friends. His favorite trips were to the British Isles, especially Ireland, where he was able to connect with his distant relatives.
Tom was married for 44 years to Rita O’Brien (nee Quinn) (deceased), and is survived by his loving children, Kathryn Talty (husband Robert Venorsky), Meg Gallagher (husband Thomas), Thomas P. Talty III (wife Melissa, deceased), and is the stepfather to Catherine O’Brien Cavanagh (husband Peter), Sharon O’Brien Paddon (husband Steve), Trisha O’Brien Cole (husband Jeffrey), John O’Brien and Marilyn O’Brien. He is the loving grandfather to Hanna Talty Muller-Greven (husband Guillaume), Elizabeth Venorsky and Daniel Venorsky, Christopher Talty and Lynda Talty, and step-grandfather to Kristen McCloud (husband Patrick) and step-great-grandfather to Kayla McLoud. Dearest brother to Mary Patricia "Pat" Boehm (husband Joseph “Bud”), Dianne Hueber (husband Dennis), and Ellen Boyle Newton (deceased). He entertained his nieces, nephews, and many cousins with his family stories and Irish wit. To quote his nephew, “He always had a way of elevating the spirit in a room with his infectious laugh and upbeat personality.”
