THOMAS J. O’BRIEN, age 79; beloved husband for 42 years of Denise (nee Hearey); loving father of Kevin, Sean (wife Jeannine) and the late Conor; devoted grandfather of Henry and Olivia; dearest brother of Margaret “Peg” Danek (husband Frank) and the late James (wife Kathleen); dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend of many.

Thomas moved to the Cleveland area from New York in 1969 and was a resident of Gates Mills since 1980. A graduate of St. John’s University, he came from Honeywell in New York to found Neoterics Inc., a computer consulting firm. After selling the firm in 1974, Tom bought, in 1978, The old Chandler and Price Manufacturing Co., a builder of specialty printing equipment since 1847. Now named C&P Manufacturing, Thomas ran the company before its successful sale in 1989. He then bought and operated Geauga Springs, a bottled water company in Geauga County. After selling Geauga Springs to Minnehaha, he worked for Cuyahoga County for over 20 years, as Business Administrator at the Board of Elections and Senior Information Systems Administrator at The Department of Children and Family Services, before retiring. Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He also enjoyed sailing, cooking, the Cleveland Browns and classical music and theater. Thomas will be fondly remembered as a serious, reserved, kind, dependable man who was protective, generous and happy to give of himself.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Inurnment Private.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Tom at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) MONDAY 4-8 PM.
