THOMAS E. STOKES age 87, beloved husband for 62 years of Mary Angela (nee Zurell); loving father of Richard, Jennifer L., John (wife Amy) and Michael (wife Jennifer H.); devoted grandfather of Ava and Jill; he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Tom was a U.S. Army Veteran, was proud to be an Army Reservist and had reached the rank of Captain. Tom lived in Chesterland for 38 years and in Euclid prior to that. He was a 1954 graduate of Euclid High School. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1958 where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and went on to obtain his master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University. Tom spent 38 years as an art teacher in the Euclid City Schools at Central Junior High School and at Euclid High School. He also worked at the May Company and at Hawken Day Camps. Tom’s hobbies were art and painting, pottery, the Indian Guides and Boy Scouts. His family and friends will remember him as being quiet and reserved, kind, selfless and having a great sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and his faith. He always put his wife, Mary Angela, on a pedestal.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, July 22, 2022, at 11:00AM at St. Noel Catholic Church, 35200 Chardon Rd, Willoughby Hills, Ohio 44094. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Tom at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY MORNING FROM 9:30-10:30AM.
