Theresa Chiancone

THERESA M. CHIANCONE (nee Cortese), age 98, beloved wife of the late Charles; loving mother of Theresa “Teri” Simenc (husband Richard) and the late Charles “Murph” (wife Sandi) and Ronald; dearest grandmother of Dawn Youngs (Ronald), Lori Marini (Aldo), Lisa Chiancone, Jeffrey Simenc (Kelly), Jennifer Morrow (Jason), Michael Simenc (Hallie), and Matthew Simenc (Cori) and great-grandmother “GG” of Kelsey, Kyle, Kelly, Madelyn, Julia, Lauren, Clara, Ben, Charlie, Emma, Sofia and Ellie; treasured daughter of the late Anthony and Mariangela (nee Cavotta) Cortese; cherished sister of Eleanor Scaccia (husband Al, deceased), Virginia Mascia (husband John), and the late Clara Finizza (husband Tony, deceased), Pauline Chiancone (husband Louis, deceased), Anna Marie Mascia (husband Mario) and Anthony Cortese (wife Carol, deceased); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Theresa was born on September 3, 1917 in Montecalvo, Italy and passed away December 14, 2015. At the age of 9, Theresa came to the U.S and has lived in the South Euclid area for the past 80 years.  Theresa graduated from Mayfield High School and was the Owner/Operator of Theresa’s Flowers for 60 years.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing keno and the slots and traveling to Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach.  Theresa was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed for her creative, artistic, hard-working, determined and loving nature.

Contributions may be made in Theresa’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 1 PM. Burial following at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Theresa at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) THURSDAY 3-5 and 6-8 PM.
