Terrance Toohig

TERRANCE MICHAEL TOOHIG, 60, of Medina, lost his battle to cancer on April 21, 2015.  Born Oct. 27, 1954 in East Cleveland, he raised his family in Willowick before settling in Medina, where he had worked for almost 25 years. Dedicating his life to social service and education, he graduated from Borromeo College of Ohio in 1976. While working full time, he put himself through Case Western Reserve University, earning a Master of Science in Social Administration. Mr. Toohig spent the next 30 years working for a variety of social and religious service originations as a LISW, while maintaining a private practice in Medina, and finally retiring from St. Vincent’s school in Akron, in 2006.  Mr. Toohig spent his free time in the company of family and friends, throwing parties, spending time at Findley Lake,NY or enjoying the culture of Cleveland. He favored the West Side Market, Playhouse Square, Cain Park and anywhere that served a great salmon filet.

He is survived by daughter, Katelyn (Michael) Toohig and son Donovan Toohig, both of Lakewood, daughter Shannon (Michael & daughter Grace) Arnold, of North Prairie, WI , and his cherished granddaughter Finnola; sisters Mary Toohig of Lyndhurst, Joanne (Edward) Bokovitz and Loretta (Kenneth) Quinn, both of Highland Heights; brother Thomas of Bedford; sister in law Casey Toohig; several aunts and uncles in the Eustace family; and several dozen nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his former wife Susan (Eisele) Toohig, parents Maurice and Thomasine Toohig, and brother Paul G Toohig.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Communion of Saints Parish at St Philomena Catholic Church at 10 AM. Terrance’s final resting place will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland, Oh. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Terrance at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 2-4 and 6-9 PM.
