Steve E. Vargo, Jr.

STEVE E. VARGO JR., age 89, beloved husband for 64 years of Nola (nee Flannery); loving father of Gary, Larry, Ricky Smith, and the late Steven and Darryl; devoted grandfather of Nathan and and great-grandfather of Ayden; cherished son of the late Stephan and Priscilla (nee Marton); dearest brother of the late Louis Vargo (wife Jennie); dear uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Army Veteran.  

Steve was born on January 6, 1928 and passed away peacefully on July 18, 2017 at Heather Hill Care Community in Chardon following a brief illness. He is remembered as a loving spouse who worked hard and never complained. He retired as a mechanical foreman from the General Electric Company at Nela Park in Cleveland after over 40 years of perfect attendance.  Steve was a former Eagle Scout, and an avid sports enthusiast who rarely missed an Indians or Browns game. He was a baseball player who built a regulation baseball diamond in his backyard for the neighborhood.  Steve would always lend a hand to help without hesitation, which was always accompanied by a smirk and chuckle. He was beloved by cherished nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends and will be dearly missed.  

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, August 5th, at the Euclid Masonic Temple, 27271 Tungsten Rd, Cleveland, OH 44132 at 1PM with Military Honors. The family will receive guest and continue fellowship of Steve’s life until 4PM

All donations will go directly to the care of his loving wife, Nola. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Arrangements by THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND.
