STEPHEN C. FARKAS age 78, beloved husband of Claudia (nee Merhar) for 42 years; devoted father of Stephen J.; cherished son of the late Steve and Irene (nee Hoczko); dearest brother of the late Juliann Ott (husband Tom, deceased); loving brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
Stephen was born on August 29, 1946, in Lorain, Ohio, where he spent most of his younger years before moving to Lake County and calling Willoughby Hills home. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Steve proudly served his country in Vietnam during The Vietnam War from 1965-1966. Hardworking, he dedicated many years as a welder to U.S. Steel and Alcon Industries before earning his retirement. Steve enjoyed the simplicity of the outdoors. He and his son enjoyed taking walks through the Metro Parks and river walking. He also loved riding his motorcycles and fishing while out on their boat. Steve also had a special place in his heart for his animal companions. He and his son shared a liking for reptiles and had been caring for their python. He also treasured their dogs, Ozzie, Lucky, Grizzly and Pansy, and cats, Coco and Mr. B, all who have passed before him. On November 10, 2024, The Marine Corps' Birthday, this gentle soul peacefully passed away. He will forever be remembered as a man worried about the wellbeing of others and caring for everyone else around him. Steve will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Steve to either the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306, or Hospice of the Western Reserve, P.O. Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192.
