STANLEY GRK, age 89, beloved husband of the late Emma (nee Poles); devoted and loving father of John Grk and Emma Dillon; cherished grandfather of Jesse Dillon (deceased), Jonas Dillon (fiancé Nikki Dozier), Veronica and Angela Grk and dearest great-grandfather of Jesse Dillon; cherished son of the late Jože and Antonija (nee Segulin); beloved brother of Frank (wife Marija, deceased), Marija Petrac (husband Louis) and the late Milan (wife Vida, deceased) and brother-in-law of Silva and Frank Božič; longtime companion of the late Marie Druzina; dear uncle and great-uncle of many in Slovenia and the United States.

Stanley Grk was born July 5, 1933, in Hotična, Slovenia and passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2022. Stanley grew up in the village of Hotična in the Primorska region of Slovenia. In 1957, he immigrated to Canada where he married the late Emma (nee Poles). They migrated to the United States and settled in Collinwood. Then moved their family to their home in Willoughby Hills. Stanley was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Collinwood. He was an active member of the Primorski Club, KSKJ, SNPJ and the St. Clair Rifle Club. He enjoyed socializing with friends. Stanley was a woodworker and later worked as a welder at East Ohio Gas for 30 years. His favorite song were Polkas, he loved dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. Stanley enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, making wine, hunting, playing his accordion and spending most of his days with his dearest companion Marie Druzina. Stanley’s generous kind heart and infectious smile made everyone he met feel like they were family. Stanley will be remembered as a hardworking, happy, caring man who was devoted to his faith and family. He will be forever missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, September 22, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 15519 Holmes Avenue at 10 AM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Stanley at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 3-8 PM.
