Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Mary Emily Yuhas, SND, 83, will be 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon.
Sister Mary Emily (nee Emily Therese Yuhas) died Sept. 1, 2013, at the Notre Dame Health Care Center, Chardon.
Sister was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Cleveland, and was known for her versatility and loving response to the needs of all. She ministered as teacher and principal in elementary schools for 43 years, and then participated in various types of outreach in schools and parishes. Sister was especially grateful for the years when she was able to welcome and give direct assistance to the poor. She treasured her family and co-workers, offering “”behind the scenes”” love and support.
Sister Mary Emily was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; dearest cousin to many locally and in Chicago, Ill.; and sister to the congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame, with whom she shared her life for 65 years.
Sister Mary Emily was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Rose (nee Naciasta) Yuhas; and siblings, John, Edward, Margaret and Helen Lini.
Friends may call at the center from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with a special prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 2 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery on the Notre Dame Education Center grounds on Friday.
