SHIRLEY H. NIXON (nee Horner) age 84, beloved wife for 48 years to the late William “Bill”; loving mother of Alan (Janice), Susan Kaesemeyer, and David (Linda); devoted grandmother of Mindy, Christine, Brett, Lauren, Adam and Kara.
Shirley was born on August 14, 1931 in Canton and passed away on October 7, 2015. She was a resident of Lyndhurst for 45 years, previously of South Euclid. Shirley was a member of the Church of the Saviour UMC for over 50 years where she was active in Sunday School and volunteered at the Treasure Chest. She was a member of Lyndhurst Garden Club and an usher at Severance Hall. Shirley graduated from Canton McKinley High School and Kent State University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She taught 1st grade at Rowland Elementary School in South Euclid. Shirley loved traveling, gardening, and watching Indians and Browns games. She enjoyed listening to classical music, especially Tony Bennett. Shirley will be remembered most as social, giving and generous of her time, selfless and faithful. She loved everyone she met and enjoyed volunteering her time.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 3:00 PM, at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91). Private burial will take place at Acacia Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Shirley SATURDAY 1-3 PM.
