Santo “Sandy” Aprile

SANTO “Sandy” APRILE age 93, born on December 30, 1926 and died peacefully November 4, 2020. He was the beloved husband for 66 yrs of the late Antoinette and will be deeply missed by his loving children: Debra Wert (husband James), Manny (wife Audrey), Lisa Wolfgram (husband Michael), and Charlene Smrdel (husband Gregory); devoted grandfather of Tera Cowdin (husband Ryan), Kristen Wolfgram, Frank Stoner, Anthony (wife Lindsey) and Rachelle Aprile, Louis and Marissa Blanco; step-grandfather of James Wert Jr. (wife Maya) and Catherine Buckley (husband Owen); and great-grandfather of nine; dearest brother of Gina Arcoria (husband Charles deceased) and Marlene Valentino (husband Nick); and the late James (wife Helen deceased) and late William (wife Roz); dear uncle and great-uncle of many. Cremation by DeJohn crematory. Due to COVID, there will be a private graveside burial service at Knollwood Cemetery.

Sandy graduated from East Tech high school in 1945 and went on to be a sales manager for Ideal Macaroni after beginning his career in the family pasta business.

Sandy lived in Mayfield Heights for 64 years, where he raised his family. He was a member of both St. Francis of Assisi church and the Italian American club.

Sandy loved and was loved by children, especially his grandchildren. Sandy enjoyed golfing, visiting the casinos and playing the slot machines with his wife, vegetable and floral gardening. He was an outgoing man who is described by those who know him as kind and loving. Sandy was devoted to his family and friends and had a warm sense of humor. He will be missed by all.
