SAMUEL H. HAMILL, JR., aged 97 years, dearly beloved husband for 74 years to Lois (nee Link), dear father of Loren (deceased) (wife Leslie), Dennis (wife Laine) and Lynne Hamill-Scasny (husband Tim), loving grandfather of Kim, Lisa, Tim, Justin, Todd, Amanda and Bethany, great-grandfather of 6.
Mr. Hamill was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 7, 1920 to the late Samuel H. Sr. and Edith (nee Forsythe) Hamill. He was a 60 year resident of Mayfield Village. He was an independent evangelical his entire life. At Nottingham Baptist Church, he served as Deacon, choir member and Sunday School teacher, and at Parkside Church (formerly The Chapel in Beachwood), he served as choir member and director of XYZ seniors’ group.
A graduate of John Adams High School, Fenn College of Engineering, and C.W.R.U., Mr. Hamill worked as a Purchasing Supervisor for the White Motor Corporation. He was a member of The Investment Club and played on the White Motor softball team as a pitcher.
He was a United States Army Veteran, obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and was Officer in charge of a POW camp in Arkansas.
Mr. Hamill loved serving the Lord in the church and in the community. His favorite music included hymns, choral music and orchestra concerts. His hobbies included playing the violin, choir vocalist, golf, Bible teacher, league bowler until age 90, hand and foot card gamer, travel, and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
His most enjoyment in life came from his wife of 74 years, Lois, and his children Loren, Dennis and Lynne. Lynne recalls her parents being dance roller skaters and the memories of seeing them glide around the floor are very special. He will be remember as being devoted, loving, faithful, intelligent, long-suffering, loyal, diligent, and having a servant-heart. He will be missed.

The family will receive friends at Willoughby Hills Friends Church, 2846 SOM Center Rd., Willoughby Hills (44094) on FRIDAY MORNING JAN. 12, 2018 FROM 11 AM UNTIL 12 NOON. Celebration of Life Service follows at 12 Noon. Burial with Military Honors in Whitehaven Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME
