SALVATORE PHILLIP GRIMALDI age 99, beloved husband for 75 years of the late Gilda M. (nee Parrinelli); loving father of Gloria Stith (husband David), John “Jack” (wife Karen), Sally and Donald; devoted grandfather of Michelle Hegedus (husband John), Michael Bowdren, Phillip and Christopher Grimaldi, Susan Spada (husband Daniel) and Melissa Bowdren; great-grandfather of Alexandria, Brooke, Gianna, and Haley; cherished son of the late Giacomo and Angela Grimaldi (nee Mucci); preceded in death by 2 sisters; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Sal was born July 6, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 12, 2018. He spent the majority of his life in Geauga County. Sal was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy. He met his wife, Gilda, while serving in the Navy during a visit to New York City. The couple married on Oct. 23, 1942, in New York and later moved to Cleveland where Sal started a successful dry cleaning business. For more than fifty years he was owner of Farrow Dry Cleaners. He was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Chagrin Falls. His pleasures in life were golf and listening to music. Sal was also an avid reader. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the wonderful caretakers who became their extended family, Nicole, Dana, Kerry and Belinda. Your family thanks you, Sal, for a lifetime of memories and for your love, kindness, help and encouragement. Sal will forever be missed.
