SALI LYNE-DRAMBAREAN (nee Papcke), aged 80 years, died peacefully Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 surrounded by her family at Geauga County’s University Hospital, Hospice Center. Born June 15, 1935 in Euclid, Ohio, to Harold and Eleanor Papcke, Sali was the eldest of two children. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, David Papcke, and her former husband Nick Drambarean.
Sali was a long time resident of Kirtland, Ohio where she lived surrounded by nature, in the home she loved, for more than fifty years. She graduated from Collinwood High School in 1950, became Miss Cleveland in 1955, and then went on to become Miss Congeniality and runner-up in the 1959 Miss Ohio Pageant. She loved to entertain for others, and she performed for years as a singer, dancer, and model throughout the northern Ohio area.
Sali adored all animals. During her lifetime, she cared for many dogs, cats, horses, birds, and the occasional raccoon. Sali had a big heart, and she made it her job to look after any animal in need. Sali enjoyed attending Old South Methodist Church where she had been the youth choir director and formed lasting friendships throughout the years. As Sali’s health began to deteriorate, one of her biggest regrets was that she was unable to visit her friends and attend church on a regular basis. Sali also loved her time at the Kirtland Community Center where she often enjoyed lunches with her friends and taking part in art and various painting classes.
Sali is survived by her son, Devin (Brenda) Drambarean and daughter, Darla (Curtis) Chandler both of Anderson, Ohio. She leaves behind five granddaughters that were fortunate in inheriting much of their grandmother’s talent and beauty: Julianna, Liv, Miranda, Aurora, and Lily. Sali also had many cherished friends and family members that will miss her dearly.
