Ruth A. Osucg

RUTH ALVINA OSUCG (nee Bole) age 97, beloved wife of the late William Osucg; loving cherished daughter of the late Erna and Emil Bole; dearest sister of the late Erna (Al) Dickheiser and (David) Davies (nee Bole), Lisa Bole and Hugo Bole. Loving Aunt to Marilyn (Larry) Richlak (nee Davies), and Great Aunt to Michelle (William) Kuhlman (nee Richlak) and Kimberley Kelly (nee Richlak), and Great-Great Aunt to Bryan Kuhlman, Megan Kuhlman, Kaitlyn Dyke (nee Kelly), and Kaleigh Kelly.

Ruth was born on July 31, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the daughter of two German immigrants, Erna and Emil Bole. Ruth was bi-lingual and spoke fluent German. With the exception of the last 7 years, when she lived in Mayfield Heights to be near her great niece and her family, she spent 90 years living in Cleveland and 60 of those years on East 43rd Street where she was a good friend to many and especially known for her love of animals. Ruth always had nuts out by her door for the squirrels and bird feeders full to the brim for her feathered friends. Through the years, she enjoyed the companionship of her dogs Smokey, Curley, and Diamond.

Ruth worked as a secretary and loved gardening. She always had flowers blooming in her home especially beautiful African Violets as well as Hens and Chicks. Ruth was a faithful volunteer for the rummage sales and Meals on Wheels at North Presbyterian Church on Superior Ave., now the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Ruth had a strong faith in God and walked to church every Sunday until she was unable. While watching her favorite soap operas, Ruth enjoyed knitting and crocheting Afghans and baby blankets that she donated to those less fortunate as well as made as gifts for family and friends.

Ruth was a home body and never learned to drive, but did take an occasional trip with her husband to West Virginia to visit his family and go fishing. She enjoyed sitting with her line in the water listening to country music, polkas, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra. Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 20, 2025, the first day of spring, which marks the start of blooming flowers, budding plants, and migrating animals, a day that aligns with Ruth’s love of flowers, plants, and animals. Ruth requested the cremains of her sister, Lisa Bole, be buried with her.

A private family service and Christian Burial at Lutheran Cemetery.
