Roxie J. Smyntek (nee Buetel) passed away at the age of 85 at Lake West Hospital. She was born on June 20, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio and was a resident of Willoughby Hills for 26 years and formerly a resident of Mentor.
Roxie is survived by Larry, her husband of 30 years, sons Douglas Wardell (wife Diane) of Kirtland, Rodger Wardell (wife Julie) of Connecticut, and Russell Wardell (wife Cathy) of Euclid and daughters Dru Hoyt (husband Will) of Scio, Ohio and 44 grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-children Stephen Smyntek (wife Vivian) of Willoughby Hills, Larry Smyntek, Jr (wife Therese) of Florida, Lynn Ostrowski (husband Bill) of Colorado, and Lisa Ceinski (husband John) of Illinois.
Roxie graduated from Collinwood High School. She was a avid reader. She was loving, energetic, spontaneous and a faithful person. She was direct and you always knew where you stood with Roxie.
Roxie was a 30 year employee of Higbees and Dillards selling women clothing and then was owner/operator of Roxie Fashion Shop, a women’s clothing store.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Body of Christ Community Church,38057 Erie Road, Willoughby. Pastor Michael Currier, Officiating. Private family burial at Lake View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends to pay tribute to the life of Roxie at THE DEJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON RD.(BETWEEN BISHOP AND RT. 91) ON MONDAY FROM 3:00 TO 5:00 AND 6:00 TO 8:00 PM.
