Rowena Garrock

ROWENA GARROCK, aged 89 years, passed away peacefully on Oct. 26, 2008 at Kingston Residence of Sylvania, Sylvania, Ohio following a massive stroke a week earlier. She was the daughter of Albert Azar and Rowena Valentine. Rowena was born Sept. 29, 1919 in Fostoria, OH. Rowena worked as a young girl in her father s restaurant in Fostoria prior to graduating from Stephens College in Springfield, Missouri. Rowena liked to travel and made several trips throughout Europe and Australia. She also lived and worked in Norway for a few years early in her career. Rowena worked for the YWCA of Cleveland for many years as Personnel Director with her last job as the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of the YWCA of Cleveland. She was a long time volunteer for the Alzheimer s Association and was named Volunteer of the Year for her many years of tireless service.
