Rosie Staffileno (nee Galay) passed away suddenly on Thursday March 5, 2015. She was the beloved wife of Vincent for 56 years. Rosie was born in Malvern, Ohio on May 25th, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Sophie Galay. She was a graduate of the School of Nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital and remained there as a cardiac nurse until her retirement.
Rosie enjoyed above all her dear children and grandchildren. In addition she was an avid reader, a skilled seamstress, a gardener and vitally concerned with education. The later interest led to her serving two terms on the Hudson, Ohio Board of Education.
She is survived by her husband Vincent, daughter Lisa (Tom) Laube and Michael (Patrish Ferreri) Staffileno; grandchildren Kevin and Marie Rose Laube and Alex and Emily Rose Staffileno. She was the devoted aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Her caregiving, kindness and compassion will always be remembered.
Family will receive relatives and friends to celebrate the life of Rosie on Thursday March 12, 2015 at THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON (formerly Ritondaro) 126 SOUTH ST. (Rt. 44, South of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) from 9:30 – 11:00AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North Street, Chardon, Ohio at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in Rosie’s name to the American Cancer Society.
