RONALD F. BALAS age 85, loving father of Ronald F. Jr. (wife Karen), George (deceased) (wife Eilene Toomey), Les, and Robert (wife Elaine); grandfather of Tara Issa, Christopher, Matthew, Megan (fiancé Robert Goodrich), Steve Toomey (wife Diane), Patrick Toomey (wife Kristina), Logan, and great-grandfather of 5; cherished son of the late Frank and Helen (nee Doctor); dearest brother of Robert (wife Norma); former husband of Matilda (nee Ellis). U.S. Army Veteran.
Ron was born on December 9, 1930 in Cleveland and passed away on February 13, 2016. He was a resident of South Euclid for 16 years formerly of Shaker Heights. Ron graduated from Shaw High School, Fenn College and Case Western Reserve University. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Eastlake and worked as a psychologist. Ron was a 10th dan, founder, grandmaster and grand patriarch of Tai Shin Doh Karate and is in the USA Internation Karate Hall of Fame. Ron enjoyed many hobbies during his life including hunting, scuba diving, traveling and spending time in the outdoors. He will be remembered by family and friends as charismatic, outgoing, friendly and bigger than life. Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life Service Friday February 19, 2016 at 10 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place with Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 2 PM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ron at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 3-5 & 6-8 PM.
