Romeo Dacanay

ROMEO A. DACANAY, aged 81 years, born on May 15, 1939 in Hyde Park, Chicago, Illinois, and entered into eternal life on May 17, 2020 in South Euclid, Ohio. Romeo is the beloved husband of Zerelda (nee Chavez), dear father of Steven Lee and Gary John Dacanay, loving grandfather of Gabriel John, Sofia Rose and Jett Ashland Dacanay, treasured son of the late John Padilla  and Antonia (nee Mapalo) Dacanay, devoted brother of Joseph Dacanay (Deanna Sol) Dacanay, Arthur Dacanay and Rosemarie Ratio (Wilfredo), treasured uncle and friend to many.

Graduated from Chicago Vocational High School and the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in Industrial Design. Rome (or Romy) was an avid sports fan and forever loyal to the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Cubs. Ever supportive of his sons’ love of music  and he loved his golf and Porsche 911’s.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Romeo are suggested to Church of the Gesu, 2470 Miramar Blvd., University Heights, OH 44118; or to the Ursuline Sisters, 6085 Parkland Blvd., Suite 175, Mayfield Heights, OH  44124. Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Gesu Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11 AM. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
