ROGER OTTO KVET age 87, survived by his beloved wife Joyce (nee Svec) of 62 years; loving father of Kathy Drotos (husband David) and Karen Payne; devoted grandfather of Jesse, Luke, Noah and Eden Drotos and Joseph Kvet-Payne; cherished son of the late Otto and Charlotte (nee Eberle); dearest brother of the late William (wife Rosalind); treasured brother-in-law of Joan & Earl Bloam; dear uncle of Eric Bloam (wife Dawn), Todd Bloam, Stacy Kvet (partner Ryan Krapf) and Bryan Kvet and great-uncle of many. US Army Veteran and Member of the Masons, Acacia Lodge #651 F. & A.M.

Living a full life, Roger entered this world in Cleveland, Ohio on July 19, 1937, born to his proud parents, Otto and Charlotte. Following his graduation from Brush High School in 1955, he worked for a few years at General Electric prior to serving in the US Army in Germany and abroad. Returning from military service, he married the love of his life, Joyce, and spent 62 wonderful years with her. They raised two daughters, who later in life made them the loving grandparents of 5. Roger resided in Mayfield Heights for 60 years and attended The Mayfield Church for 55+ years. His work history includes over 40 years as a quartz fabricator at Willoughby Quartz GE. He became a true artisan who crafted many pieces of quartz into beautiful and coveted works of art including wineglasses, bells and decanters. Roger loved to travel by car and enjoyed driving his conversion van on long trips. He was the family documentalist, responsible for countless home movies that recorded his family’s history over many decades. Other leisure activities for Roger included reading, gardening, camping at Woodside Lake Park in Streetsboro, watching movies, listening to Elvis and old country music, and traveling whenever possible. The last 26 years of his life were very challenging due to a life-threatening illness, but he was a fighter and overcame the odds to survive and become a cherished grandfather. A person of strong faith and love of God, he was looking forward to reuniting with his mom, dad and brother and being able to see, drive and have all of his physical abilities restored. Although life took him through a difficult journey, Roger loved his family, who will cherish the best parts of his life and remember him with love.
