Rogena T. Baston

ROGENA T. BASTON (nee Thompson) age 79, mother of Heather; devoted grandmother of Samantha and Sabrina; sister of Jo Lynn Thompson; treasured friend of many. 

Rogena T. Baston was born on May 13, 1945 in Pampa, Texas and died on July 2nd, 2024 after a long illness. She was one of the first woman engineers to graduate from Louisiana Tech. Using her education, she went on to have a long career as a chemical engineer and systems programmer. Rogena was a native Texan who moved to Ohio late in life to be closer to her daughter and to her grandchildren, whom she adored. Self-described as ornery, she also tried to make everyone around her laugh, especially in tough situations. She enjoyed camping and supporting the Girl Scouts. Rogena enjoyed sharing stories about family artifacts and history. 

There will be a remembrance at Hamlet Hills in Chagrin Falls, where she spent her last years. The family will have a private graveside service in Minden, Louisiana.
