ROBERT W. DEACON age 91, beloved husband for over 70 years of Germaine “Gerrie” (nee Tomcal); loving father of Robert (Jennifer), Lorraine “Lorrie” Haberman (Benjamin), and Thomas (Tonia); devoted grandfather of Allison (Jay Camper), Alexis Nowinski (Robbie), Sean Haberman (Amanda), Jesse Haberman (Gina), Candice, Jonathan, and Wesley Deacon, and great-grandfather of Caidyn, Madilyn, Vivian, Marissa, Beau, Kennedy, and Lily; cherished son of the late Winfield and Freda (nee Gehring); dearest brother of twin Richard (Carol) and the late Dorothy Sharillo (Eugene, deceased), Ruth Drapach (Stephen, deceased), and Otto Bartholma; dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

Bob was born in Cleveland on February 29, 1928, and passed away on February 13, 2020. He attended John Adams High School, and was a resident of Aurora for the past 10 years, previously of Highland Heights. Bob was founder and co-owner of Deacon’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Mayfield Village, and was active in the Mayfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealer’s Association (GCADA). Besides cars, Bob enjoyed tending to his garden and his lawn, as well as golfing, fishing, hunting, and sailing. His travels included trips to Italy, Hawaii, and Alaska. Bob enjoyed numerous fishing trips in Canada with his sons, brother, and friends, as well as hunting trips in Wyoming. Bob and his wife enjoyed many summers at their lake house at Chautauqua Lake, New York and also spent many winters at their vacation home in Naples, Florida. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan. Bob was kind, gentle, and happy-go-lucky. Well-liked and sociable, he had a great sense of humor and was known for his one-liners. Bob will be missed by all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 22, 2020 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Bob at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) FRIDAY 2-4 & 5-8 PM.
