Robert Rasmussen

Robert Rasmussen, of Newbury, passed away on Wednesday, Feb 10, 2016.   He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 6, 1948, to Hazel Rasmussen and the late Robert G. Rasmussen.

Bob was a long-time resident of Geauga County – he spent his youth in Newbury Twp, eight years in Burton Twp and then the last 37 years in South Newbury.  He loved designing plastic molding equipment and worked for Newbury Industries and Van Dorn Demag for almost 20 years.  Later, he worked for 10 fun years for Peter Becker (the best boss in the world) as an estimating engineer at Robeck Fluid Power Company in Aurora, Ohio, and retired with regret.

Bob enjoyed watching auto racing and he loved cars in general.   He excelled at assembling model car and airplane kits.   He loved watching football games and the Cavs.  And he loved to travel with his wife.  He worked on Sudoku puzzles, especially while socializing at the end of the bar of Unc’s Patio in Auburn Twp.

Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara; his mother Hazel; his sister Sue ; nieces Sarah (Burt) and Susie (Mike) and great nieces. Bob was a caring husband, son and uncle.  He will be greatly missed.

Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Newbury Volunteer Fire Department.

Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Bob will take place at a later date. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory.
