ROBERT J. PETRIELLA, age 70, beloved husband for 43 years of Cynthia (nee Scherer); loving father of Robert W. (wife Bria) and Julianne Petriella (husband Scott Schrey); devoted grandfather of Brayden, Grace, Robert and Luca; cherished son of the late James and Margaret (nee Boots); dearest brother of Frank (wife Janie) and Karen; dear brother-in-law of William Scherer and treasured son-in-law of the late William and Esther Scherer; fond uncle and friend to many. Preceded in death by his K-9 partner; Corky. Retired Richmond Heights K-9 Police Officer and U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Bob was born on June 21, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Richmond Heights High School in 1971 and attended Case Western Reserve University. Bob also belonged to St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church. He would begin his career as a K-9 police officer for the city of Richmond Heights and was the first K-9 officer in the Hillcrest area. He was a devoted police officer who organized the first Police Memorial Day on May 15, 1983 in Cleveland. Bob was also one of the first kidney and pancreas double transplant recipients at University Hospital. He was a man of many hobbies such as boating, fishing, supporting Cleveland sports teams, rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes and attending many OSU bowl games. He also enjoyed spending time at his Florida condo and traveling to Las Vegas to play slots and visit family. In the last few years, Bob enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the golf course and visiting with neighbors. Most people would describe Bob as a social man who told great stories, had a great sense of humor and was devoted to his family, faith and career. Bob will be missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are requesting to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, May 16, 2024, 10AM at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church 5384 Wilson Mills Rd, Highland Heights, OH 44143. Burial following with Military Honors at Knollwood Cemetery.
