Robert J. Matoney, Sr.

ROBERT J. MATONEY, SR age 80. Beloved husband for 52 years of the late Sally A. (nee Evans). Loving father of Deacon Robert J., Jr (wife Louise), Sue Cicero (husband Joseph), Michael (wife Barbara, deceased), Margaret “Peggy”, Eileen Matteo (husband Nicholas), Sally Tibjash (husband Jeffrey), Molly Gessler (husband Randolph) and the late Joseph Patrick. Devoted grandfather of 29 and great-grandfather of five. Cherished brother of Ruth Kennedy, Sr Mary Sharone, SND and the late James, Alice Paisley and Joseph. Dear uncle, great-uncle and friend to many.

Bob was a retired OHSAA Football and Volleyball Official and retired Iron Worker of Local #17 with Tri State Steel. Bob loved golf, traveling, officiating and fantasy football. He graduated from Cathedral Latin in 1947 and attended John Carroll University. Bob also played in the original Thanksgiving Day Football Charity Game in 1945. His family remembers him as a gentle and kind person. He was loving and fun loving and cherished a good time. He was a true gentleman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at St. Clare Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Interment following at All Souls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Bob at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 6-9 & Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM.
