A Celebration of Life Service for Robert E. Hartley, 82, will be at 4 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON (formerly Ritondaro) 126 SOUTH ST. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square). Pastor Jay Carroll will officiate. Mr. Hartley passed away February 11, 2014 at Burton Health Care. He was born March 23, 1931 in Charleston, WV.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. A resident of Newbury for 34 years after moving from Burton, he was member of the Burton Congregational Church and the Ruritan Club (a farmers organization). After graduating from high school in West Virginia, Bob worked as a horticulturist and greenhouse grower at Burton Flower and Garden. In his free time, Bob enjoyed watching the Indians, Browns and OSU and listening to Gene Autry and Roy Rogers but got a lot of enjoyment from his work. His family will remember him as a hard-working, social man who loved being around and talking to people and was dedicated to his work.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, LaVerne (Kaselak) (nee Kruse); daughters Beverly Cadiff and Christine Berrier both of Geneva; son Robert of Geneva and stepsons Stephen Kaselak (wife Betty) of Broadview Heights and William Kaselak (wife Michelle) of Garretsville; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and sister Mary Smalley.
He is preceded in death by his parents Selic and Delva (nee Hickenbottom); sisters Annabelle Foust, Janet Wallace and Judy Tribble and brother Kenneth.
Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Private burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, OH.
Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Rd. #270, Valley View, OH 44125.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Bob SUNDAY 2-4 PM at the funeral home.
