Robert Ernest Botti, M.D., age 91, passed away on September 23, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betty (Bickett) and his seven children, Marianne Sheridan (John), Robert, Jr., Timothy (Melissa), Jean Lenk (Thomas), Mark (Laura), Susan, Patricia Delzell (David), 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, many step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 1991 by his beloved wife of 40 years, Claire (nee Tondini); his parents, John and Teresa Botti, his brother, John (Elizabeth), and sister, Ernestine Cutler (Benjamin).
Robert was born on February 24, 1930 in Somerville, New Jersey. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies. Robert served in the United States Air Force as Chief, Medicine Division at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. A prominent cardiologist in Cleveland, he was Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and Director of Cardiology at University Hospitals, where he established the first coronary care unit. He was Director of Medicine at Hillcrest Hospital, Director of the Meridia Heart Institute, and past president of the American Heart Association of Northeast Ohio.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd, Gates Mills. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.
The Bickett family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 29th, 4-7 pm;
The Botti children will receive friends on Thursday, September 30th, 4-7 pm; both days at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND, 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.).
