RICHARD R. SCHMIDT age 89, beloved husband for 56 years of Barbara B. (nee Bullock); loving father of Elizabeth “Beth” Stickley (husband Timothy) of Mayfield Village, Susan Thomson (husband John) of Wisconsin and the late Daniel (wife Dian Brandenburg); devoted grandfather of William Schmidt, Chelsea, Katelyn and Maggie Stickley and Erin Thomson; cherished brother of Doris Fousek of Wickliffe and the late Eugenia Baku; dear uncle to Linda Fousek. World War II U.S. Army Air Force Veteran.

Richard has been a resident of Mayfield Village since 1959. Richard graduated from Glenville High School and then worked sales in the retail industry. He has been a member of Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church for over 28 years including time spent as a volunteer trustee during church construction. Richard loved to volunteer his time with many organizations including: The North Chagrin Nature Center, Meals on Wheels and local wood carvers in Highland Heights. He loved to garden, carve wood, work jigsaw puzzles and travel. Richard’s family is what gave him the most enjoyment in life as he was a family man. He will be remembered most for his quiet faith and as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to Cleveland Metro Park North Chagrin Reservation, 3037 SOM Center Rd., Willoughby Hills, OH 44094 or Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church, 34201 Eddy Rd., Willoughby Hills, OH 44094.

Celebration of Life Service in memory of Richard on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 7 PM at Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Richard AT THE CHURCH FRIDAY 5-7 PM. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Arrangements by THE DeJOHN~FLYNN~MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY of WILLOUGHBY HILLS.
