Richard R. “Dick” Kist

Richard R. “Dick” Kist age 94, beloved husband for 63 years of Caroline (nee Sidoti); loving father of Karen Full (husband James) and Keith; cherished son of the late Richard and Loretta (nee Gillis); dearest brother of the late Lois Sintic; dear uncle of Linda, Doreen, and Richard Sintic, Helen Greene, and great-uncle of Thomas Sintic; special cousin of Margaret Kist, Helene Voloski, and Sr. Helen Louise Kist, SND. World War II U.S. Army Veteran.

Dick was born in Cleveland on  February 27, 1927 and died peacefully on June 24, 2021. He lived in Kirtland for the past 63 years.

Dick attended and graduated from East Tech High School in 1945. After graduation he went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the US Army. He was a proud World War II Veteran.  Dick was committed to his faith and was a member of Divine Word Catholic Parish. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. In addition, he was a member of the Kirtland Kiwanis and active at the Kirtland Senior Center. Dick was also a member of the VFW.

Dick worked at Euclid Road Machinery (also known as Euclid Inc.) for almost forty years, where he built heavy earth moving equipment. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and building model ships. He enjoyed big band music, especially Glen Miller and Duke Ellington.

Dick was devoted to his faith, wife and children. He had a great sense of humor and a strong will. Dick was extremely loving and caring. He will be dearly missed by all.

Contributions may be made in memory of Dick to Divine Word Church, 8100 Eagle Rd., Kirtland OH 44094. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Divine Word Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following with Military Honors at Western Reserve Memorial Garden Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Dick at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91MONDAY 4-8PM.
