Richard Hood

Prayers of Christian Burial for Richard O. “Dick” Hood, 95, will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10 AM at the Funeral Home with a burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Mr. Hood died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Heartland of Mentor.

Richard was born May 12, 1921 in Cleveland to the late Oliver S. and Irene (nee Laudenbach) Hood. He was a resident of Chesterland. Mr. Hood retired in the early 1980’s from Roadway Express where he was a semi-tractor trailer operator. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling to various antique and classic car shows. His family described him as a private man that loved his wife, his cars and his dogs. He never traveled anywhere without his wife.

Richard is survived by his nephew Don Christen (wife Linda); nieces Sandy LaMacchia (husband Ron), Jane Christen (husband Al Boryenace) and Terri Bretz (husband Tim); great nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Ruth J. (nee Knapp) who died in 2014 and his sister Ruth A. Christen (husband Donald).

Family will receive friends at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) SATURDAY 9-10am.
