RICHARD P. FLYNN age 71, beloved husband of Nancy (nee Hand); loving father of Erika Flynn Apelis (husband Markus); devoted grandfather of Karlis; cherished son of the late George and Mary (nee Foley); dearest brother of the late George, Robert and Evelyn; former husband of Mara Flynn (nee Amolins). U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran.
Richard was born on June 16, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts and passed away on June 30, 2016 in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Richard attended St. Theresa’s School in Boston and played little league. He attended Boston Latin School and graduated from Roslindale High School in Boston. At Roslindale High School he ran track and played football and baseball. Richard studied pre-dental and played baseball at Northeastern University. Richard received his bachelor’s degree from Boston State College and his master’s in English Literature and Creative Writing at Indiana University, Bloomington. He worked as an English Literature teacher at Norwood High School and taught classes at Boston State College. Later, he worked as a sales manager for a car dealership in Boston. Richard loved to ski, golf, travel, write, and animals. Richard loved the outdoors. Richard was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. His family and friends will remember Richard as a man who loved life, had a great sense of humor and was full of endless energy. Richard will be greatly missed.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Richard at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) FRIDAY 10-11 AM.
