REV. FR. JOSEPH H. PISKURA, age 90, senior priest-retired for the Diocese of Cleveland and Col., United States Army, Ret., passed away Nov. 26, 2020. Beloved son of the late John and Katherine (nee Kitko), dear brother of Henry J. (Mary) and Mary Stincic (George) (all deceased); loving uncle of Catherine Corrigan (Gerald, deceased), George J. Stincic, Jr. (Kathleen, deceased) and Thomas J. Stincic (Theresa) (of New York); cherished great-uncle of Kevin F. Corrigan (of Columbus), The Rev. Allen F. Corrigan (Pastor, St. Victor Church, Richfield), Sharon M. Corrigan Lakatos (Richard), Donna M. Corrigan Ernst (James), Stacey Stincic Fiorito (Robert) (of New York), and Anne Stincic Smith (of New York); fond great-great-uncle of Catherine and Henry Corrigan (of Columbus), Emily and Kenneth Ernst, and Nicholas Swinehart (of New York).

Burial with full Military Honors in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, burial will be private for immediate family only. A memorial Mass will be announced and held when it is safe to gather. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID.

The Reverend Joseph H Piskura died Thursday, 26 November 2020, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.

Joseph H. Piskura was born on 2 December 1929. His parents were the late John and Katherine (Kitko). He was educated at St. Wendelin Elementary, Cleveland, St. Ignatius, High School, Cleveland, Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, MI and St. Mary Seminary, Cleveland. On 18 December 1954 in the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, Archbishop Edward F. Hoban ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland. He was the great-uncle of Fr. Allen Corrigan, pastor of St. Victor, Richfield.

Fr. Piskura’s first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of St. John the Baptist, Akron. On 21 June 1960 he was transferred to SS. Cyril & Methodius, Lakewood to serve as Parochial Vicar. On 8 July 1963 Fr. Piskura was given permission to serve as a Chaplain in the United States Army. On 3 March 1993 he was assigned Parochial Vicar of St. Margaret Mary, S. Euclid. Fr. Piskura was released from diocesan assignment and given permission to accept assignment as a Chaplain with the United States Army on 20 June 1995. Fr. Piskura retired on 1 August 2000. He loved being a priest, loved his country and was proud to serve as an Army Chaplain for many years. In retirement, he generously offered his priestly ministry to anyone in need providing supply help and hearing confessions throughout the diocese. His generosity, faithful service, priestly witness, gentleness and infectious smile will be greatly missed.
