A celebration of Life service for Reid E. George, 87, of South Euclid, will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Mr. George died suddenly at Hillcrest Hospital on January 2, 2014.
Mr. George was born on October 23, 1926 in Lilly, PA to the late Albert and Annie (nee Harper). He was a 53 year resident of South Euclid. Mr. George was employed as a diesel mechanic for UPS for 18 years retiring in 1980. He then worked for the Mayfield School district at Mayfield High School as a janitor until his retirement in 1991. He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Force, serving as a gunner and flight engineer on B17 and B24 bombers.
Mr. George loved gardening and helping people around the neighborhood with various projects. He loved to cook and was known for his great breakfasts. He was a true friend to many and loved people.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Emmaline (nee Mayerski), son, Daniel T. (wife Bonnie) of FL, granddaughter Jacqueline Catha (husband Noah) great grandchildren, Jake and Jett, great grandson Jackson. He was preceded in death by his great grandson Jackson. George was the youngest of 10 siblings that are also deceased.
The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Reid on Sunday from 2-6 PM at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Rd. (between Bishop and Rt. 91.) Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
