Raymond J. Wozniak, 86, Chardon, passed away April 10, 2012, at Geauga Hospital. Born May 24, 1925, in Cleveland, he had lived in Thompson before moving to Chardon 72 years ago.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon, V.F.W. and Knights of Columbus in Chardon. He was also was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served on the PT Boat 190 as a torpedo man. Raymond loved woodcarving and gardening. His wife remembers him as a happy, giving person who loved life and was good to people. Mr. Wozniak, with his brother Frank, owned and operated Maple Leaf Auto Body Shop for over 25 years.
Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Nadaleen (nee Mascorella); brothers, Alfred of Chardon, Daniel of Chardon and James (Francine) of Mentor; and sisters, Mary Schiele (Christian) of Chardon and Arlene Roland (Stuart) of Hudson. He was also the uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen (nee Twarogoski); brother, Frank; and sisters, Kathryn Janek and Nancy Schiele.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at a later date. Cremation was by DeJohn Crematory. Arrangements are being handled by DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro), 126 South St. (Route 44, south of Route 6/Chardon Square).
