Raymond Carl Grisard

RAYMOND CARL GRISARD, aged 72 years, beloved husband for 48 years to Barbara (nee Ebbinghaus), dear father of Pamela Greene (husband Nathanael), Jennifer Grisard Ludwig (husband Jeffrey Ludwig) and Douglas (wife Karol), like-a-father to Tracey Schveder, loving grandfather of Rebecca, Theresa and David Greene, Martin, Benjamin and Amanda Grisard, and Joanna, Kimberly and Cristen Schveder, devoted son of the late Carl H. and Lucia (nee Nowjak), cherished brother of the late Kathleen Grisard.

Ray Grisard grew up right here in South Euclid, and he and his wife returned to his childhood home about three years ago. He graduated from Brush High, and later became an entrepreneurial, self employed jack-of-all-trades (three trades to be specific: licensed in plumbing, electric and HVAC). He grew a loyal following of clients from residential properties to large commercial structures all over the region. He was someone who certainly took great pride in his work and doing things right. Forty-nine years of happy marriage to his wife, Barb, made his ever-growing family life complete, and was the center of everything. His children, and their children, came together for holidays, birthdays, weddings and graduations to celebrate each other. Ray was an endless source of advice and wise (or very funny) words for everyone from family to colleagues to strangers on the street. He was someone people knew they could turn to for a laid-back, no-drama take on things. A rock of Gibraltar. Even in the darkest times, Ray could find a way to crack a somehow appropriate joke.  We all learned to lighten the dark with humor from him. His mischievous nature was also infectious. Always a little boy at heart, Ray was a tinkerer—taking things apart to figure how to put it back together, improved. He was the guy who brought home puppies, shot off fireworks for the kids, loved boats and fishing and danced and laughed and looked for the good time.  He was an entertainer. A mood setter. And, the biggest, best shoulder to cry on, too. He never let you leave without a hug. Ray loved the people in his life passionately. If you were in his circle, you were special to him. He will always be remembered as a steadfast friend.

Private burial at Whitehaven Memorial Park. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Ray at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) WEDNESDAY 2-4 AND 6-8 PM.
