POMPEO CUSMAI age 86, beloved husband for 60 years of Lucia (nee D’Elia); loving father of Tony (deceased) (wife Linda), Sam, and Lorena Schneider (husband Anthony); devoted grandfather of Michael Schneider; cherished son of the late Lorenzo and Lucia (nee Iurilli); dearest brother of Edda and the late Lino, Antonio, Felice, Ripalta, Edmondo and Italia; treasured uncle of Anna and Mario Rossi, Michelle and Nick DiPlacito, Sam and Bridget D’Elia, uncle and great-uncle of many others; dearest cousin of Giovanna Kovach (husband John) and the late Lillian Coccia.
Pompeo was born on January 18, 1934 in Campobasso, Italy and passed away on August 9, 2020. He was a resident of Highland Heights for 40 years, formerly residing in Collinwood. Pompeo attended school in Italy, moved to Canada in 1960 and then to the United States in 1970. He was a parishioner of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church for 40 years. Pompeo worked in construction as a laborer and was a member of Local #310 Laborers Union. He loved playing soccer in his younger days and was an Indians, Cavaliers, Browns and race car fan. Pompeo collected watches and clocks. He loved to listen to opera, Italian music, Pavarotti, and music from the 1950s. Pompeo will be remembered most as a very nice man who was devoted to his family and faith. He was social, hardworking and had a great sense of humor. Pompeo enjoyed teaching his grandson about life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
