Phan Mai “Lisa” Csoltko was born in Vietnam on August 7, 1975. Phan’s journey to the United States started in 1981when she and some relatives fled Vietnam by boat and ended up in a refugee camp in the Philippines, where she spent two years. She left the refugee camp and with the help of Catholic Charities made her way to Biloxi, MS. Phan met Tina Curby at a neighborhood Bible club, and soon after Tina and her husband Pat began the process of bringing her into their home in Canton, GA. She became part of the Curby family on March 7, 1984.

She was later joined by sisters Anna, Erin, Allison, and Cassie, and the family lived for most of her childhood in Chardon, Ohio. She played in the Chardon softball league and took many years of ballet classes. She was a member of Willo-Hill Baptist Church and attended Willo-Hill Christian School where she was on the cheerleading squad. She married Edward Csoltko on January 23, 1998, and together they had three wonderful children – Mark, Daniel, and Nicole – who were the focus of her life. The family lived in Cleveland and in South Euclid.

Phan’s favorite hobbies centered around her children’s sports and school activities and taking family trips and vacations. She loved playing Scrabble, ‘World of Warcraft,’ and casino slot machines. She loved coffee. She listened to 80’s music, and her favorite holiday was Christmas; she especially loved wrapping and giving gifts.

Phan, aged 44 years, died on March 7, 2020. Phan will always be remembered as a generous and hospitable mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. Her home was always open to everyone, and her children’s friends said she was “a mom to all.”
