PETER A. SALEMI, age 91; beloved husband for 55 years of Anne P. (nee Pannella); loving father of Steven L. and Diane N. Quinlivan; devoted grandfather of Nicholas, Tristan and Darian Salemi, Amanda and Austin Quinlivan; cherished son of the late Louis and Eleanor (nee Campagna); dearest brother of the late Helen M. Manfredi (husband Luca, deceased) and Joseph (wife Nicky); dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. World War II U.S. Army Veteran.
Peter attended Cleveland school system and enrolled in Miami University of Ohio where he enlisted in the Army. He was trained as an army medic and was stationed with the 121st general hospital in Southern England. The outfit received wounded troops from D-day Normandy where they recuperated or were sent back to the States or combat. After the war, Peter finished college at Western Reserve University. Peter was hired by the National Cash Register Company as an administrator for 40 years. During that time, he met and married his sweetheart Anne.
Peter was active in the community having served with Hillcrest Kiwanis for several years and was an usher at St. Clare Catholic Church for several years. He served as treasurer of the Hillcrest Art Guild, an organization of artists who wished to continue their talents and skills. Music was an important part of Peter’s life, he played with bands throughout his school days and when he graduated from college, he became a professional musician. Peter loved big band music, jazz and enjoyed playing saxophone and clarinet with Hal Lynn’s band. Peter lived a long and happy life and was preceded in death by his life-long best friend, Charles Tricarichi. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a good citizen, and a man of integrity, strong faith, love and kindness.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Clare Catholic Church at 9:30 AM. Entombment following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Peter at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) SUNDAY 2-6 PM.
