Petar ‘Peša’ Bilaver

Petar ‘Peša’ Bilaver, of Mentor, passed away on May 1st, 2021. He was born in Škabrnja, Croatia on April 12, 1946. He was one of 10 children to the late Tadija and Tereža (Banovic) Bilaver. Peša (an endearing childhood nickname) set his youthful sights on a more global dream and left his native land for further adventure, first through Italy, then to Cleveland in 1968 – but not without his beautiful bride – Stoja (Mitrović) Bilaver. He quickly adapted to the ‘immigrant’ life: friends, family, and fun. He became an expert CNC programmer at Two-M Precision Co – with a reputation as one of the best in the industry. Although, his ‘precision’ and his drive were not only relegated to his career. He had that same drive and passion for the ‘beautiful game’ (futbol/soccer) – his first love. A sweeper like no other – a split decision maker with a cool hand, and a steel mind: a ‘protector of the keeper’. He loved the game and put it all on the pitch. But his greatest joy and achievement was his family and friends. His kindness and gentle soul were a light for all who came across his path – he knew no strangers. His loss will never be filled – but his spirit remains immortal.

He is survived by his wife, Stoja; his son: Anton (Danina); his daughter: Anita; his beautiful grandson: Emil; his brother: Mate; his sisters; Marija, Kristina, Stana and Marica; and so many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tadija and Tereža; and his siblings, Stoja, Nada, Šime, and Branko.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Petar at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28990 Chardon Road (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91), Friday, May 7 from 5-8pm. Funeral Mass, Saturday, 10AM at St. Paul Croatian Church, 1369 East 40th Street, Cleveland (Please Meet at Church). Entombment All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. Masks required and social distancing and occupancy restrictions will be followed.
