NORBERT PETER LEHANE, age 89; beloved husband for 58 years of the late Donna M. (nee Bonnay); loving father of Mary Karen “Karey” Gilmour (husband Patrick), Maureen, Kathleen Urbanek, Colleen Gallagher (husband Patrick), Paul and the late Norbert Brian; devoted grandfather of Patrick (wife Beth) and Colleen Gilmour, Kara, Erin and Daniel Urbanek, Timothy (wife Katie), Meghan and Joseph Gallagher and great-grandfather of Ryan and Kaylee; cherished son of the late John and Mary (nee Carroll); dearest brother of the late Rev Fr Joseph B. Lehane, John, Mary Mullally, Paul, Kevin and Edward Lehane; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Norbert was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran who fought in Normandy and was recipient of 5 bronze stars. He was a resident of Willoughby Hills for over 2 years after moving from Mentor-on-the-Lake. A graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, Norbert went on to become a professional photographer as well as a fire fighter for the City of Cleveland until he retired in 1982. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since 1993 and considered faith and family some of the most important parts of his life. In addition to traveling and watching football, Norbert enjoyed listening to Irish music. He will be fondly remembered as a gentleman who was neat, faithful and valued his great marriage to Donna.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Willoughby) at 10 AM. Burial following with Military Honors in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Norbert at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 5-8 PM.
